Happy 28th Birthday, Louie!

Some of you may have heard about how I busted up my shoulder, elbow, and wrist, and did some nerve pinching in the process. But how I can I not get on here to wish my husband a happy birthday, especially after the way he’s been taking care of me with my near-useless bum arm?

This man has been by my side for the past 11 years. He’s seen me at my worst, at my weakest, at my most vulnerable. He encourages my creativity, is amused by my quirks, endures my wrath and even stands up to it. He prays with me and for me and humbles me. Through our marriage, I have learned what it means to submit to my husband – and it does not mean being submissive or losing myself. With him, I created life and received the greatest blessing I could imagine in my two children who await us in heaven and walk with the Father. I love the ways he laughs with such commitment that it becomes infectious. I love the way he willing holds me in silence when all I need stillness and his arms around me. I love the way he speaks of our babies.

Anyway, if you could send my husby some birthday love, I’m sure he would appreciate it :) . He just started a blog which you can get to here: ejanda.blogspot.com, and he’s also on Twitter: @lifewithlouie. Thank you!

I love your guts, Louie!

Hand Talking

On the way back to SF after my 2nd fitting at David’s Bridal in Pinole, I called my mom up to let her know that I went ahead and got the bustle for my dress. I also mentioned that I didn’t have a veil for the veil ceremony and said maybe we could just make one out of tulle or something.

My dad is listening and points out the curtain in the kitchen – it’s lacy; it’s sheer. He says it’s like the veils you see in medieval weddings in the movies. I say okay, sounds good. He goes on to explain how the seamstress my mom is going to for alterations can sew the edges or whatever. My mom notices an oil stain or something on the curtain.

Dad: “What stain?”
Mom: “If you put it down I can show you!”
[Some more conversation that I don't understand.]
Dad: “Talk to the hand!”
Mom: “What?! I’m not talking to your hand!”

Is it really next month?

I cannot believe how few days are left until our wedding.  I am excited and happy that we will be getting our marriage blessed <3. And yes, I am really looking forward seeing our family and celebrating with them. When I am not flustered or flabbergasted, I am actually enjoying the planning and all the personal touches ;-) we are adding to reflect our relationship and personality. I wish I had more time – but it’s not likely that I would have used it any more wisely – so I’m just having faith in what we are doing and in the people with whom we are working. Grace was right – when we have vendors we trust, things will go a lot easier, and I’m looking forward to being less of a Bride Kong (ask Louie about that heehee).
